French Artist, Noart, explores the use of metal to create Pop Art creations that transform neutral soulless industrial elements to demonstrate the genius of mankind.
NOART was born in 1965 in Vit et Travaille in Paris, and is currently living and working in Alfortville, France. His universe as an artist, is assembled with his main tool: metal, of any kind. Inspired assembler, poet of metal, Noart is a city wizard. From the innards of the city, he borrowed piping, elements from the guts of the town that he combines through his imagination. His creations are pipes, metal, faucets, diodes that all fit together. He transforms those neutral soulless industrial elements to demonstrate and display the genius of mankind. Noart handles puns in his Opus, cleverly and brilliantly. Offbeat humour is omnipresent; from his Trou de Balle to his Arme à Gauche (untranslatable French puns), through his AFM (Automatic Fucking Machine). He hijacks the essence of the object itself. Perfect mastery, this hijacking always comes with a flawless execution of the object as a piece of art. Noart has sometimes been integrated to the urban scene, magnificent subculture of our society that reveals it; his collaboration with Jérôme Mesnager testifies in this way. Despite a couple of urban interventions, or his participation to the mythical exhibit (Section Urbaine) in 2005, he’s not an urban artist per se. Above all, he finds inspiration in the urban world, in its beauty. You feel the effects of the city’s networks in Noart’s creations; Centre Pompidou could be his workshop with its pipes, its tubes; its flows could be his skin. Noart makes us dream with those machines that ignore the seriousness of the contemporary scene. Here resides the distinctive feature of art, derision, thoughts, imagination.
